One summer evening in June the sky demonstrated these intense array of colors.
In the sunset meadow with my cover photograph for the Tennessee Conservationist 85th anniversary!In the meadow at sunset! This field holds a lot of meaning for me. Standing where I photographed the image for the Tennessee Conservationist magazine’s 85th Anniversary cover!My children grew up playing in this former kite field, while I rescue dog ran in the fields of yellow mustard flowers. This kite field has now been beautifully rewilded for an ecologically sustainable native habitat for plants and animals.
“Tree of Infinite Wisdom” This is a sprawling Oak tree composite image with a starry sky in the background, Shelby Farms Park. I spent several years studying trees in the area. I was drawn to this specific tree by its size, location to a pond, and its massive sprawling branches. Visiting this tree every month for an entire year, I photographed the tree through all the seasons and all types of weather. It was amazing to see it shine through Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter!Its inner beauty and strength resonated with my spirit.
“Timeless Beauty II”An early summer sunset at Shelby Farms Park. Lush green meadow grass contrasts with a dynamic pink sunset. Smoke haze from Canadian forest fires had drifted down to the Mid-South creating this striated color effect. All at once the sunset looked like a scene from a Sci-Fi film.
“Dream Time Lotus”This lotus at Memphis Botanical Garden was illuminated by the sun. Signifying peace, harmony, rebirth and purity. This radiant lotus dazzled in the high heat of summer. An inspiring and dreamlike moment.
